Your home is full of natural home health remedies. Everything that mother nature provides is "natural." Unfortunately, often as the natural substance enters a human hand, it’s altered and processed. After many processes, the substance is actually a dead substance, as there is no more Prana, the life force, left.
Lack of energy, exhaustion, depression and many other today’s common health problems, are often caused by large consumption of these dead substances. In order to rejuvenate your body & mind, you need to start consuming more live substances, that are full of Prana.
Ayurvedic Diet considers food to be the most important natural home health remedy, as it’s something that you consume multiple times every day and hopefully most of the time comes from your home.
Of course, not everything that is natural is also healthy for you.
All that surrounds you and you absorb with your senses, is either medicine or poison. Whatever makes you feel better (and not only temporarily) and strengthens you, is medicine. Whatever weakens you, is poison. What is medicine for you, doesn’t have to be medicine for your friend and vice versa.
Many of these medicines or poisons we choose, either consciously or unconsciously. We can choose what and how we eat and drink, how and when we exercise, what kind of lifestyle we lead, to some degree what kind of people we surround ourselves with, and to also certain degree what we think.
That gives us a great power, don’t you think? Just this idea that you can surround yourselves with people, sounds, food, drinks, herbs, oils that can be natural home health remedies for you, should be sending positive vibrations down your spine ;-)
It’s very empowering.
You are the one who can change the factors that are not working for you, that are not contributing to your health. The first step is changing bad habits that you have created and that don’t contribute to your health.
From holistic medicine perspective, only the substances that are whole, natural, and by fixing one problem don’t contribute to another, should be consumed on daily basis. If you are traveling and the only food available is McDonalds, eat it. Bless your food and enjoy it. If you are eating it and feeling guilty about it or are thinking about all the bad stuff they put into this, you are creating more harm in your body. I know this is an extreme example, but I think you got my point.
So, start being more conscious about your environment, your food, your thoughts and everything else that is part of your life and home. Remember, holistic medicine works with the “whole” and that means the whole of you, the whole that surrounds you, and the whole that you are part of.
What is Remedy?
The word remedy, according to http://www.merriam-webster.com, comes from Anglo-French, from Latin remedium, from re- + mederi to heal and is either:
• a medicine, application, or treatment that relieves or cures a disease
• something that corrects or counteracts
The second definition of the word remedy is particularly important in holistic medicine, because we often "remedy with the opposite." When you have too much heat, you try to cool down, when you have too much heavy quality, you balance with light, etc. This concept is very important to remember for understanding how natural health remedies work and how you can play with them and start creating your own home health remedies.
